From handcrafted yoga supports to guided meditations, My Yoga Room Elements is about finding simple ways to care for your body, make space for your mind, and bring a little more comfort into everyday life.
One of my favourite things about running a small business is connecting with other makers who put just as much thought and care into what they create as I do.
I'd love to introduce you to Ellen Wolfe, the woman behind My Yoga Room Elements (MYRE), a small business creating handcrafted yoga and meditation supports designed for comfort both on and off the yoga mat.
What caught my attention about Ellen's work is how practical it is. Her products aren't limited to yoga or meditation. They're designed to bring a little extra comfort into everyday activities, whether that's reading, stretching, relaxing or simply taking a few minutes for yourself.
And as someone who spends a good chunk of her day at a jeweller's bench, I can appreciate the value of a little comfort!

Meet Ellen: The Experience Behind Her Work
Ellen brings an interesting combination of experience to My Yoga Room Elements.
Before focusing on her business, she worked as a Clinical Massage Therapist. She's also a yoga instructor and meditation teacher.
That background informs her approach to designing products that provide physical support and comfort.
What I appreciate is that her work isn't about creating complicated routines or suggesting there's one right way to relax.
It's about making everyday moments a little more comfortable, whether that's during a yoga practice or while enjoying some quiet time at home.
And I think that's something most of us can appreciate.
Why Handmade Matters
This is where Ellen and I have quite a bit in common.
Like me, Ellen makes her products by hand right here in Calgary, Alberta.
She works in small batches, carefully selects her materials, and cuts and sews her pieces herself.
I actually have a personal connection to sewing, too. My mum was a professional seamstress, so I've always had an appreciation for the skill and attention to detail that goes into working with fabric.
These days, I work with sterling silver rather than textiles, but I recognize the care behind Ellen's work.
Her bolsters feature removeable covers, practical carrying handles and fabrics chosen both function and appearance in mind.
When you're making something by hand, you're thinking about more than how it looks. You're thinking about how someone will use it. how it will hold up over time, and whether those little details make a difference.
Different materials, but a shared appreciation for good craftsmanship.

What is a Yoga Bolster, and How Can You Use One?
One of the best examples of Ellen putting her experience and sewing skills to work is her Round Yoga Bolster.
It's a supportive cushion designed for yoga, meditation and everyday comfort. While traditionally used during yoga practice, its uses go well beyond that mat.
Think about those moments when you're trying to get comfortable with a book, sitting on the floor, or stretching out at the end of the day. A bolster can provide extra support behind your back, beneath your knees or wherever you need a little cushioning.
And because Ellen chooses fabrics that fit beautifully into a living room, bedroom or reading corner, her bolsters don't have to disappear into a closet between uses.
I love the idea of something that can be useful in so many different ways, rather than being brought out for one specific activity.

Finding Small Moments For Yourself
We're all busy, and making time for ourselves can easily end up at the bottom of the to-do list.
Beyond her handcrafted products, Ellen also offers guided meditations and reflective resources.
These give you another way to take a little time for yourself, even when you don't have much time to spare.
Maybe that's listening to a guided meditation, spending a few minutes writing down your thoughts, or simply sitting quietly before moving on to the next thing.
There's no perfect way to do it, and it doesn't have to become another task on your list.
Ellen shares guided meditations on YouTube, and she also has a collection of free resources available on her website.

What Connects Our Two Businesses?
At first glance, handcrafted sterling silver jewelry and yoga supports might seem like an unusual combination.
But when Ellen and I started learning more about each other's businesses, I realized we both want the things we make to offer something beyond looking beautful.
My Morse Code jewelry carries personal messages like BREATHE, BALANCE, STRONG and I AM ENOUGH. These aren't just words chosen for how they look. They're reminders of something meaningful to the person wearing them.
And because those messages are written in Morse Code, they can remain completely private unless the wearer chooses to share them.
Ellen's products offer something different but complementary. Her bolsters can make it easier to settle into a comfortable position, while her meditations and reflective resources give people opportunities to pause and reconnect with themselves.
One is a reminder you can wear. The other helps you make time to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what that reminder means to you.
We're also both Calgary women running small creative businesses, doing much of the work ourselves.
At the heart of both business is the belief that the things we choose to bring into our lives can be useful, meaningful and made to last.
